Art Story: "Joyful Mood" - The Message of Joy found in Art
I created this painting in 2016 using a new painting technique I was developing at the time. I enjoyed the whimsical, wispy movements and bright colors which simply brought me into a joyful mood (hence the title). Later that year while I was bringing some artwork into a local coffee shop for display, a woman stopped me as I was passing her table to ask me about this painting. She was so taken with it and told me, “I just got a new job yesterday and to celebrate, I want to buy this painting! It makes me feel joyful!” Then when I told her the title of the painting, she looked at me with big eyes and said, “This wasn’t a coincidence. This painting was meant for me!” I was so thrilled she chose to invest in art to commemorate a meaningful event in her life. And I was so pleased my painting evoked the uplifting emotion of joy within her.
