Painting Titled "Sounds of the Sea"

And The Sea Will Take What’s Left
I walked along the beach today,
observing footprints in the sand.
Curious of the life which left them,
and the moments within its span.
What triumphs and tragedies shaped them?
Who taught them to ride a bike?
Were their thoughts of God fleeting or deep?
Did their dreams die or take flight?
As I walk behind this stranger’s path,
reminded I too am a fading guest,
for all steps will meet the tides of time –-
and the sea will take what’s left.
May the message in my footprints be,
of a life hidden in the Cleft,
for I know I’ll pass this way but once --
and the sea will take what’s left.
“…people are like the grass. Their beauty fades as quickly as the flowers in a field…the grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”
Isaiah 40:6b, 8 NLT
